On Saturday evening, Larsen & Toubro built their first 9.5m wide pier cap for the Chennai Metro Line-5’s Adyar River Bridge, which connects the Manapakkam and Nandambakkam areas of Chennai.
The city’s foremost elevated new Line-5, which is part of the Chennai Metro Phase 2 project, connects Madhavaram – Sholinganallur via 48 stations. L&T’s 12.431-kilometer-long Package C5-ECV-02 bridge will connect CMBT and Puzhuthivakkam by crossing the Adyar River.
According to Google Maps, the Adyar River is now around 100 meters wide. There are six piers on the Line-5 bridge, four of which are within the river and one on either bank.
In November 2021, L&T received the Rs. 1656 crore contract for C5-ECV-02 with a 36-month completion period.
